Giorgina Levi (1910-2011) was an Italian historian, member of Parliament and public intellectual. Born in Turin from politically engaged parents, following Mussolini’s Racial Laws,\u00a0 was forced to emigrate to Bolivia with her husband Heinz Arian.<\/p>\n

In 1946 she returned to Italy and became active in the Italian Communist Party, first in Turin and then as a member of the Chamber of Deputies. From 1968 to 1972 she was secretary of the National Commission for Education and Culture.<\/p>\n

In 1975 she founded the Jewish bimonthly journal Ha Keillah which she directed for many years.<\/p>\n

She wrote extensively on the history of Italy under Fascism, Latin America and Jews in Piedmont and Italy.<\/p>\n
