{"id":2414,"date":"2016-01-15T03:07:48","date_gmt":"2016-01-15T03:07:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/primolevicenter.org\/printed-matter\/?p=2414"},"modified":"2016-01-15T03:07:48","modified_gmt":"2016-01-15T03:07:48","slug":"the-museum-of-italian-judaism-seeks-director","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/primolevicenter.org\/printed-matter\/the-museum-of-italian-judaism-seeks-director\/","title":{"rendered":"The Museum of Italian Judaism Seeks Director"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>In 2003, the Ministry for Cultural Heritage\u00a0issued the\u00a0plan to develop the\u00a0Museum of Italian Judaism and the Shoah\u00a0in Ferrara.\u00a0During\u00a0the years since, the foundation in charge of implementing\u00a0the plan has created programs and an important Jewish literary festival.<\/p>\n<p>The museum&#8217;s goal is to\u00a0present\u00a0the history and culture of Italian Judaism and its\u00a0legacy of knowledge\u00a0and ideas\u00a0that have\u00a0distinguished\u00a0more than two-thousand year Jewish presence in Italy.\u00a0Ferrara was chosen as symbolic center of historic\u00a0Jewish life and culture, and the hometown of Giorgio Bassani, whose\u00a0writings are known worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, under the oversight of the national center for research on the Holocaust, the Center for Contemporary Jewish Documentation in Milan, the museum will develop a section devoted to the history of the persecution of the Jews in Italy.The museum&#8217;s new\u00a0president, Dario Disegni, was installed two weeks ago.\u00a0Mr.\u00a0Disegni is the president of the\u00a0National Foundation for Jewish Heritage\u00a0\u00a0and of the Jewish Community of Turin.
