Radio and TV

Film directed by Luigi Comencini, RAI 1986, 4 hours. Due to financial difficulties, Morante awarded RAI the right to a TV-film from La Storia.

The film was adapted and directed by Luigi Comencini and released in 1986 after Morante’s death. Vincent Canby writing for The New York Times on June 3, 1988, expresses the feeling of most critics here as in Italy: “The material appears to have been utterly beyond the talents (and, perhaps the interests) of Mr. Comencini, who has told much of this dark tale as if it were a sort of soap opera in which cataclysmic events are mere inconveniences.”

Actress Maria Paiato read the entire novel on RAI’s radio program Ad Alta Voce, starting in June 2012- Link
