These Thoughts of Mine

By Gury Schwarz. Emanuele Artom (Aosta, 1915–Turin, 1944) was an Italian Jewish intellectual. He experienced Italian racial persecution and in 1943 joined the resistance, dying as a result of the atrocious torture he underwent at the hands of Fascist and Nazi tormentors in the spring of 1944. He is a well-known and revered figure among Italian Jews, and his memory endures also among non-Jewish Italians, especially—but not solely—in Turin, the city in which he grew up and spent most of his life.
