Event Details

An afternoon tea with Enrico Fink, musician, scholar, improviser, chazan and story-teller from Florence who will talk and sing about the many influences and exchanges that shaped the liturgy of Jews all over the Mediterranean. At Los Corassones Avlan, 146 West 4th Street, Friday, November 8th at 2 pm!
Poetry of devotion, joy and sorrow – a glimpse into the fascinating world of Italian Sephardic piyutim, as can be found today in the traditional repertoires of Italian Jewish communities for Tisha be’Av and Simchat Torah, but also High Holidays and Regalim. Ancient verses sung to melodies that reflect interactions and exchanges between the synagogue and the outside world, but also between Jews of different origins and cultures. Poetry from middle age Spain and Renaissance Italy, music deeply rooted in local tradition yet bearing the traces of the shores of the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean.
