CALL FOR PAPERS – AAIS Caucus on Italian-Jewish Studies
AAIS Annual Meeting in Boulder, CO (March 26-28, 2015)
1. Nazione ebrea e nuova Italia. Was the project of Italian statehood dependent on Jewish emancipation? How so? Could the modernization of Italian Jews be imagined or realized without the rally around the patria? How do recent “revisitings” of the Risorgimento shed light on these questions? Papers on the relationship of Jewish emancipation to national unification and statehood, in the nineteenth century or the twentieth century through the Fascist period, are invited. Interdisciplinary approaches are especially welcome. Please send 150-200 word abstracts in English or Italian and short bios to Scott Lerner (scott.lerner@edu) by December 15, 2014.
2. Natalia Ginzburg. In anticipation of the 100th anniversary of Natalia Ginzburg’s birth, in 1916, papers on any aspect of her works and life are solicited. Please send 150-200 word abstracts in English or Italian and short bios to Jonathan Druker (j.druker@ilstu.edu) by December 15, 2014.
3. Testimonial and Literary Responses to the Holocaust. Papers on Italian Holocaust texts but also on their reception and diffusion are solicited. Please send 150-200 word abstracts in English or Italian and short bios to Jonathan Druker (j.druker@ilstu.edu) by December 15, 2014.
4. Completed Panels and Individual Papers.
