Italy and the Second World War

Call for Papers, “Italy and the Second World War” (Brill Publishing) (Deadline: 31 June 2015)

This volume is a collection of essays that focus on the Italian experience of war from a grassroots perspective, analyzing the impact of war on the Italian soldiers and civilians and on the population of territories occupied by the Italian army during the Second World War.

We encourage potential contributors to submit articles that explore topics that include but are not limited to the following:

The war experience of the Italian soldier around the different theaters of war
The impact of Italian military occupations on local civiliansThe memorialization of the war
The Italian Civil War from the perspective of Resistance fighters, members of the RSI and civilians
The impact of war on Italian civilians (food rationing, bombing, etc.)
If you are interested in the project, please submit a 500 words proposal/abstract (preferably in word.doc format), along with your CV, to Emanuele Sica (emanuele.sica@rmc.ca) by November 30, 2014 (Informal contact is also welcome at the above email). Your proposal/abstract should clearly express why and how your article is relevant to the project. Accepted articles of 8,000-10,000 words, including notes and bibliography, should be sent to the editor by 31 June, 2015.
